Find your size

The best way to find your correct ring size is to visit us and have your finger measured, but if you can't make we have a handy guide that you can use.

WHAT TO KNOW

The basics

The engagement ring sits on the third finger (next to the little finger) of the left hand.

The average women's ring size is L½ and the average men's ring size is Q

Exercising, water retention, pregnancy, ageing and arthritis can cause fingers to grow. Weight loss and cooler temperatures can cause fingers to decrease in size.

It is better to guess a ring size on the larger side because it is easier to size a ring down than up if you guess incorrectly.

It is also better for the ring to fit slightly bigger than too small so that it does not fit at all.

MEASURING YOUR RING SIZE

Temperature is important

Your finger size can change throughout the day depending on how hot or cold it is, so it is a good idea to measure at room temperature at the end of the day when your fingers are at their largest.

USEFUL HINTS

Not too tight, not too loose

Rings with a thicker band will feel tighter than a thinner band; in these cases, we recommend buying a full size larger than your normal ring size.

If the ring has a very wide band it might be best to have your size measured in one of our stores.

Your ring should fit your finger comfortably; it should be snug enough so that it will not fall off, but loose enough to slide over your knuckle.

BETTER SAFE THAN SORRY

Bigger is better

Measure your finger at least three times to make sure you've got it absolutely right.

If you are still in doubt please pop in to one of our stores and we will be more than happy to measure your finger to ensure you get the perfect fit.

BUYING AS A SURPRISE

Borrow a ring

If you're buying a gift or a surprise the best way is to borrow one of his or her rings (from the correct finger) and download our guide to determine its size.

If in doubt, choose a slightly larger size as it is easier to make a larger ring smaller, and at least it will go on your beloved's finger when you pop the question!

Ask family or friends

Or ask the friend to take your girlfriend engagement ring shopping "for fun". Have her get professionally sized and ask her friend to report back to you!.
